Climate Variability, Water Quality, and Incidence of Waterborne Pathogens in Riparian Communities of the Lake Victoria Basin, Kenya
Extreme precipitation events and rising lake surface temperatures in the Lake Victoria basin have altered pathogen loads and seasonal epidemiology of Vibrio cholerae and Cryptosporidium parvum. Longitudinal water quality telemetry and spatial epidemiological analysis revealed significant correlations between extreme runoff events and spike pathogen densities at communal landing beaches.
